The Saratov state academic drama theatre named after I. A. Slonova was founded in 1803 for the second half of the nineteenth century, Saratov was not only cultural, but also the theatrical capital of the Volga region. The history of the theater is inextricably linked with the name of the outstanding artist and organizer of the theater Ivan artemyevich Slonov (1882-1945). It was he who laid the foundations of the famous Saratov theatre school, which owes much to the pedagogical skills of leading actors of drama theatre of different generations.
In the current repertoire of the theatre performances of the works of Shakespeare and Moliere, Nikolai Gogol and Alexander Ostrovsky, Mikhail Bulgakov, Aleksandr Volodin and Alexei Arbuzov, as well as a scenic reading of contemporary authors: Ivan Vyrypaev, Maxim Kurochkin, Alexei slapovskogo, Sergei Medvedev, Victoria Nikiforova, Ksenia Stepanycheva, Igor Ignatov, Mika, Myllyaho, by Marius von meyenburg.
